Dr. Ruskiewicz divides his time between his office in Pottstown and teaching responsibilities at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia. At both locations, Dr. Ruskiewicz is a leading practitioner in the use of contact lenses to stop the progression of nearsightedness, thereby eliminating the need for glasses and contacts during the day. These contacts are worn at night to shape the front of the eye.

In the Pottstown office. Dr. Ruskiewicz specializes in contact lenses and family eye care. He is the first in Pottstown to use the Gentle Vision Shaping System that allows patients to have excellent vision all day long without glasses or contacts.

At the Eye Institute, Dr. Ruskiewicz supervises interns and teaches in the areas of eye diseases and health care systems. Dr. Ruskiewicz's primary academic thrust has been to constantly improve the quality of eye care by combining modern medical advances with old-fashioned care. Dr. Ruskiewicz teaches health care workers to always respect their Patients' dignity and wishes.

Teaching has been a large part of Dr. Ruskiewicz's career.....he is a tenured Associate Professor of Public Health and has served as chairman at two academic departments. Dr. Ruskiewicz has received numerous grants for research and has published 25 articles and has also helped publish a book. His current research is trying to identify factors that cause nearsightedness in children. Dr. Ruskiewicz has lectured in Poland, Germany, Switzerland and Norway.

Dr. Ruskiewicz receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and pursued advanced training at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, earning a Masters in Public Health Degree. In addition to Pennsylvania, Dr. Ruskiewicz is also licensed in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Audrey Chen, O.D.

Dr. Audrey Chen grew up in the heart of Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended University of California, Berkeley and received a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Cell Biology. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry from UC Berkeley School of Optometry. Dr. Chen continued her optometric training through residency in Primary Care at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.

Dr. Chen is also a clinical faculty member at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Her duties include supervising student interns at The Eye Institute and teaching clinical skills laboratory.

Dr. Chen is passionate about providing quality patient care and firmly believes all patients should be treated as family. In her off time, she enjoys a variety of activities including hiking, skiing, playing tennis and golf.

Jenny Myung, O.D.

Raised in Southern California, Dr. Jenny Myung received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan. Dr. Myung continued her training with a residency in pediatric and binocular vision at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.

Dr. Myung was recruited to stay on as a clinical instructor in the pediatric service at The Eye Institute. In addition to teaching, she currently provides care to infants, toddlers, and children and specializes in vision therapy, amblyopia, strabismus, and learning-related visual disorders. She also participated as a clinical investigator in the recently published research, the Convergence Insufficiency Treatment Trial. Although she specializes in pediatrics, Dr. Myung loves helping patients of all ages with their eye care needs.

In her spare time, Dr. Myung volunteers for the children's ministry at her church and has been on two service trips providing eye care in Oaxaca, Mexico. She also enjoys baking and trying out new recipes, especially for her husband.

Garry J. Thomas, O.D., M.D.

Dr. Garry Thomas received his BA in Biology at West Virginia University, then graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and also West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia where he was Chief Ophthalmology resident. Dr. Thomas completed his specialty Fellowship in Retina-Vitreous at the prestigious Schepens Eye Research Insititute at the Harvard University in Boston, MA. Dr. Thomas is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

In addition to his extensive professional credentials, Dr. Thomas is a member of the American Society of Retinal Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Antiaging Academy of Medicine, the Fellow American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Schepens International Society.

George R. Pronesti, M.D.

Dr. George Pronesti is a board certified ophthalmologist and LASIK and cataract surgeon. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Pronesti obtained his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University Medical School in Philadelphia, and then completed his internship and residency at the Friedenwald Eye Institute in Maryland.

Dr. Pronesti has served as Vice Chairman of Maryland General Hospital's Department of Ophthalmology where he was responsible for the training of new doctors in leading-edge clinical and surgical techniques. Dr. Pronesti has authored numerous publications and is the inventor of the Golf Bifocal. Dr. Pronesti has performed thousands of LASIK procedures and continues to perform the latest, most innovative procedures by participating in many ongoing FDA protocols. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Baltimore Medical Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Amiram M. Shapiro, M.D.

Amiram M. Shapiro, M.D. received his medical degree from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. He has received Ophthalmological training in Israel, Norway and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC. Dr. Shapiro finished his training at the world-famous Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard University in Boston. He has more than 50 scientific publications in the fields of pathology of the eye, glaucoma and amblyopia.

Dr. Shapiro is licensed in Israel, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Currently he is on the staff at numerous hospitals including Hahnemann Hospital, the Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Wills Eye Hospital. His practice includes ocular plastic surgery, glaucoma and cataract surgery.
